40505 LEGO Building Systems is a LEGO House exclusive with 1211 pieces and released in 2024. The set is the 5th LEGO House exclusive, paying tribute to 3 different LEGO Building Systems that make LEGO what it is today. The set was released for 699 DKK, and only be available exclusively from the LEGO Store at the LEGO House in Billund, Denmark. The set focuses on the three System in Play platforms: LEGO System, LEGO Technic and LEGO DUPLO, which underpin the LEGO Brand as we know it today.
The set commemorates three significant achievements, with one representing each system: Town Plan No. 1 from 1955, the DUPLO train sets of the 1980s, and the 853 Car Chassis from the Technic line, introduced in 1977.
Moreover, the set pays tribute to the LEGO House's History Collection, showcasing a detailed timeline at the back with nano-scale models that highlight key moments in LEGO's history. This includes The Wooden Duck, the DUPLO set 511 which featured both DUPLO and LEGO System bricks, the Technic Space Shuttle set 8480, Bionicle Tahu set 40581, among others. You'll find a total of 19 nano-builds to explore on the back of the set.
